SITUATION

Engineering contractors often face equipment placement and layout challenges due to the lack of detailed drawings of older facilities, heavily modified structures and new builds where drawing distribution is highly restricted. Detailed drawings reduce engineering and commercial risk and assist in the refinement of installation pricing and efficiency.

 

SECONDSIGHT SOLUTION

Ruggedized and hardhat mounted spatial computing hardware, Microsoft HoloLens 2, combined with SecondSight high-resolution scanning applications mated with detailed offline 3D modelling.

 

Video and photography of site visits are essential tools for strategizing and bidding any project but have limited utility. Using Contxt, field personnel can rapidly scan complex environments to centimeter grade resolution in a matter of minutes, review content in real-time and, where mobile or Wi-Fi connectivity exists, easily upload models to engineering staff anywhere. Within hours, fully manipulatable, photo-textured 3D holographic or full immersive VR representations are available for use in equipment placement visualization, bid package preparation, business development, training, pre-deployment orientation and evacuation exercises.
